GSLABJ Minority Journalism Workshop turns 45 and seeks alumni
On a cold January day in 1977, about 50 fresh-faced young people entered a large room at St. Louis Community College, looking to learn something different — or maybe even follow a dream. When they crossed that threshold, they entered the first Minority Journalism Workshop, hosted by the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists.
Now, 45 years later, we want to check in with those students, and those who followed, to find out how what they learned back then has helped them in the years that followed. To that end, we are compiling a directory of workshop alumni.
We are inviting all workshop alumni to complete this survey and, if you are in touch with other students from your workshop, please share this message and link with them or send us their contact information (name, workshop year, e-mail address), which we will only use to let them know about this project.
If you have photos from your workshop, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get in touch about how we might like to use them.
Please help us get started by responding to this short survey.
